Baramee 30 Tat

Baramee is the Thai equivalent of the Pali word Parami which loosely translates as Perfection in Virtues. In Theravada Buddhism, a devotee practices the 10 Parami with the goal of achieving liberation, as an Arahant, Pacceka Buddha or Buddha. The 10 Parami are described as Morality (Sila), Dettachment (Nekkhamma), Wisodm (Paññā), Vigour (Viriya), Forbearance (Khanti), Truthfulness (Sacca), Resolution (Adhiṭṭhāna), Loving Kindness (Mettā) and Equanimity (Upekkhā).

Practiced at 3 different levels, these make for a total of 30 virtues. By sacrificng one’s external properties in order to perfect the 10 Virtues/ Perfections, it is named ordinary perfections (Parami).. Fulfilling the virtues through the sacrifice of limbs and organs is known as middle perfections, or Upaparami. Fulfilling them through the sacrifice of one’s life is known as the highest order of perfection – Paramattha Parami.
